✍🏻Elevating Research Skills for Undergrad's Education and International Careers

In our first Freshman Research Institute session, we will move beyond treating research papers as simple university assignments. Instead, we will focus on the core research skills you can develop to set yourself apart during the undergraduate admissions process.

Nigel Li—Georgetown graduate, Central Asia writer for The Diplomat, and Director of the Freshman Research Institute—will lead the session, bringing his extensive educational and professional experience.

Amirbek Bakhshilloev—Upcoming freshman at Stanford, researcher and published author. With a background in theoretical mathematics and nuclear physics, Amirbek has collaborated with faculty from MIT and Dartmouth, placing research in arXiv and Advances in Aerospace Science & Technology journal.

This session is designed to benefit both beginners and students with prior research experience. We will focus on the following questions:

-How can I develop the research skills needed to stand out as a researcher for admissions, journals, and research organizations?
-How do you integrate your research paper into a broader undergraduate application strategy?
-How can a high school student begin engaging in real-world decision-making spaces such as politics and business, and builds early access to high-level professional environments through research?

By the end of the session, we aim to give you a clear direction for integrating a research mindset into your daily life, positioning you for a successful career.
